Abstract

Silver doped silicon dioxide (Ag@SiO2) NPs has been acquiring admirable physicochemical and biological properties. Present study enclosed the information about the synthesis of Ag doped (0.0, 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5 g) SiO2NPs via sol-gel method. XRD analysis revealed that the phase change from amorphous to face centered cubic in Ag@SiO2NPs and crystallite size was calculated from 35 to 39 nm by scherrer equation. The irregular and non-uniform surface morphology of Ag@SiO2NPs was observed via SEM micrograph. Presence of oxygen, silicon and silver in Ag doped SiO2 NPs were calculated via EDX. After that the absorbance spectrum of Ag@SiO2NPs was exhibited maxima at 238 nm lies in ultraviolet region was detected by UV-VIS. Moreover, the FTIR analysis depicted different vibrational modes showing asymmetric Si-O-Si, OH and Si-H-O groups attached on surface of NPs. In-vitro bio assay, antibacterial and anticancer activities were judged against gram negative bacteria E.coli and liver HepG2 cancer cell line. Our results revealed maximum inhibition zone 12 mm and most decrease in cell viability (P = 0.025) 44.24% at 40 mg/mL of Ag@SiO2NPs. Overall result shows that by increasing the amount of Ag@SiO2 NPs was boost up the antibacterial and anticancer activities.
