Abstract
The aim of our research work is to improving the integrity of the Hungarian natural gas transmission system. The direct purpose of the paper is to present the role of reinforcing technologies on the fatigue and burst behaviour, more generally on the structural integrity of steel pipelines, reviewing our full-scale examinations. External and internal reinforcement technologies were developed, and known external reinforcing technology was used, too. Full scale fatigue and burst tests were performed, both unreinforced and reinforced pipeline sections were examined. Based on the results, safety factor was defined.
