Abstract
A photocatalyst KInW2O8 (β phase) with InO6 octahedra was synthesized and its physical and photophysical properties were characterized by XRD, BET measurement, UV-visible diffuse reflectance, respectively. For the first time, the photocatalytic H2 and O2 evolution on this material were investigated in detail. The results showed that O2 could be evolved at an initial rate of 2.1 μmol/g per h under visible light irradiation. Furthermore, H2 could be obtained at an average rate of 1.21 μmol/g per h and O2 at an initial rate of 4.26 μmol/g per h under full arc irradiation. Based on these results, the band structure of the photocatalyst was suggested, indicating that the introduction of indium changed the electronic structure of the W-based oxide.
