Abstract
Blades of turbines are key elements of steam turbines. They are the main energy driven components at every stage of steam turbine where steam is pressurized to generate power. In view of designing, the material used and dimensions of blade govern the efficiency, consistency and durability of a steam turbine. In this paper the design of aerofoil profile of HP steam turbine blade is modelled by using computer-aided three-dimensional interactive application (CATIA). Various analytical data viz.., static structural analysis, transient structural analysis and transient thermal analysis are performed on different materials (ATI 720, Waspaloy, Molybdenum TZM, Incoloy alloy, Inconel alloy 725). Based on the analysis, Waspaloy material blade outperformed among all blades materials in terms of creep resistance and heat flux.
