Abstract

The crystal structure and optical properties of Sr2NiWO6 double perovskite were studied. The polycrystalline Sr2NiWO6 sample was prepared through a solid-state reaction method. The structural and optical properties of the sample were determined using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance respectively. The Rietveld analysis of XRD confirmed that the compound existed in single phase and crystallized in a tetragonal structure with a space group I4/m. The analysis also revealed that the lattice parameter a and c were 5.562974 and 7.919822 Å respectively. From the UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, the band gap energy of the sample was 3.29 eV.
