Abstract

The analysis of SrO.6Fe 2 O 3 single phase has been performed by using General Structure Analysis System (GSAS) and its magnetic properties has been measured by using Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM). The SrO.6Fe 2 O 3 magnetic material system is synthesized by solid state reaction method through the mechanical alloying process and sintered at 1200 °C for 10 hours. The refinement result of x-ray diffraction showed that the single phases of the SrFe 12 O 19 magnetic material system is formed with the hexagonal crystal structure (space group P 63/mmc), lattice parameters a = b = 5. 9033(5) A and c = 23.239(2) A, α = β = 90°, γ = 120 o , cell unit volume 701.3(1) A 3 , and atomic density of ρ = 5.72 g.cm -3 . The hexagonal structure with space group P 63/m m c is constructed from 4 building blocks, namely two S blocks (Fe 6 3+ O 8 2- ) 2+ and two R blocks (Sr 2+ Fe 6 3+ O 11 2- ) 2- . The result from magnetic properties measurement showed that the sample has coercive field, saturated magnetization, and remanence magnetization of 1650 Oe, 63.01 emu/g and 48.21 emu/g respectively.
