Abstract

Layers and single quantum wells of Cd x Hg 1− x Te with x ⋍ 0.7 have been grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Structural analysis shows that growth free of defects (twins, dislocations) can be achieved on (111)Te Cd 0.96Zn 0.04Te substrates. The Photoluminescence analysis of the layers and the wells reveal that they are efficient light emittors in the 1.3–1.5 μm range.
