Abstract

An antenna is a device used for transmission and reception of electromagnetic signals. There are various shapes and sizes of antennas are available based on the application. Among the different shapes available, parabolic shape is one such shape majorly used in satellite communication. This Project presents the static analysis of the antenna reflector to determine displacement, RMS values, mass and stresses using Aluminum and Carbon Epoxy materials. Analytical study is carried out for approaching the problem by assuming a flat rectangle plate. This project is about the structural study of the composite reflectors subjected to uniformly distributed pressure (UDL). In the case of composites, for better RMS values, many combinations of fiber angle orientation are carried out. Extensive comparison studies have been carried for reflector made of composite materials in order to compare with Aluminium reflector in terms of RMS values and mass. Various thicknesses have been adopted to obtain better RMS values for antenna reflector. Tables have been created to facilitate the designer to look for the reflectors for the specific accuracy.
