Abstract

Starting with relativistic form of the hadron couplings in the SU(6) \ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{} O(3) quark model, we calculate the strong decay widths and branching ratios of baryons and their resonances within the framework of a set of three crossing-symmetric form factors. The parametric structure of the form factors, used in this paper, is obtained in a phenomenological way essentially to accord with certain important properties, such as Lorentz invariance, crossing symmetry (in hadron 4-momenta and physical masses), and Regge university of hadron couplings. A comparative study of all three form factors is made to assess their respective roles in bringing about quantitative agreement with the available experimental data. One of the form factors, ${f}_{L}^{\mathrm{III}}$, seems to have the maximum coverage in terms of over-all agreemennt with the experimental estimates, especially with reference to the decay ratios of Regge recurrences of the $\ensuremath{\Delta}(1236)$.
