Abstract

We present a new representation of the partition function for strong-coupling QCD which is suitable also for finite baryon-number-density simulations. This enables us to study the phase structure in the canonical formulation (with fixed baryon number B) as well as the grand canonical one (with fixed chemical potential μ). We find a clear signal for a first-order chiral phase transition at μ c a = 0.63. The critical baryon-number density n c a 3 = 0.045 is only slightly higher than the density of nuclear matter.
