Abstract

Recent experiments uncovering ferromagnetism and superconductivity in multilayer graphene have questioned the importance of moir\'e potentials in determining the myriad phenomena in two-dimensional materials. In this work, using Hartree-Fock analysis with a careful treatment of periodic potentials, the authors demonstrate that moir\'e potentials indeed crucially affect the strong correlation physics, with their impact as beyond that of a weak perturbation. In short: moir\'e is important.
