Abstract
We characterize the approximation of functions in uniform norm by classical Meyer-König and Zeller operator. Using the closed connection between the approximation by Meyer-König and Zeller operator and the weighted approximation by Baskakov operator, we prove a strong converse inequality of type A in terms of the K-functional.
