Abstract

The present work is concerned with the determination of the dynamic stress intensity factors (DSIFs) due to the existence of an interfacial crack in a nonhomogeneous strip. Laplace transform and separation of variables techniques are employed to reduce the problem to a system of triple series equations, then to a singular integral equation of Cauchy type singularity. It is solved numerically, using Gauss–Chebyshev integration formulae, to find the values of SIFs in the domain of Laplace transform. They are inverted numerically to obtain the DSIFs. Further, a parametric study is introduced to investigate the effects of elastic and geometric characteristics of the nonhomogeneous strip on the values of DSIFs.
