Abstract

Titanium/steel laminated composites form a tooth-like interface which is subjected to alternating shear/normal stresses during cold roll bonding process. Interfacial shear stress promotes atomic diffusion and gives birth to nano-grains, resulting in an interface mixed with nanocrystalline and amorphous region. Interfacial normal stress introduces high dislocation density, resulting in an interfacial transition zone.
