Abstract
Bending analysis of a thin isotropic ellipsoidal shell of small ellipticity, resting on a Winkler type elastic foundation and subjected to uniform internal pressure is carried out. Equations for the general shell of revolution obtained by an asymptotic approach are reduced to the specific geometry of the ellipsoidal shell. Results are obtained for the clamped edge condition by superimposing the deformations caused by uniform pressure and edge loading of an ellipsoidal shell made of concrete.
