Abstract

The main objectives of the work are the stress analysis and lifetime evaluation of the hypervapotron heat sink under loads corresponding to ITER conditions. Various design options of hypervapotron were considered. Developed 3D finite element models of the hypervapotron structure include a heat sink, tungsten tiles, a copper interlayer and stainless steel leg which connects the hypervapotron to the support structure. Coupled transient thermal and elastic-plastic analyses were done for all analyzed options of the hypervapotron. Lifetime analysis was performed from the low cycle fatigue and fatigue crack propagation points of view.
