Abstract
Based on extremely detailed litho- and biostratigraphic analyses it has been possible to recognise 9 formations, 62 conodont, 13 foraminifera and 17 tentaculite biostratigraphic zones in the Silurian, Devonian, and Carboniferous carbonate sequence of the Shiskat reference section. The lithological and paleontological characteristics of the formations are described in detail. The sedimentary environment of the Shishkat area of the Zeravshan-Turkestan Paleobasin is reconstructed and a special Shiskat facies type of Paleozoic section of the Zeravshan-Turkestan structure-facies zone is proposed.
