Abstract

Radiolarians and planktonic foraminifera were studied from the group of sections of the Upper Cretaceous lithographic limestones in the Struganik Village region (Western Serbia). The deposits studied were formed in the local basin that was surrounded by a carbonate platform and was characterized by low-energy conditions of sedimentation. The deposits are represented by micritic limestones with intercalations of calcarenites and rudites. The section of Struganik limestones has a small stratigraphic interval covering the upper Santonian and lower Campanian and having a total thickness of 120–150 m. Radiolarian zones (Crucella robusta and Afens perapediensis) and foraminiferal zones (equivalent of Dicarinella asymetrica and Globotruncanita elevata) were traced here.
