Abstract

The paper aims at analyzing the discourse observed in certain social spheres in modern Bulgarian reality. The goal is to describe the main types of speech strategies employed by the participants in social communication in the spheres under study. The sociolinguistic point of view we adhere to here allows us to assume that the new political and economic situation in the country breeds a new language situation, including a new type of speech behavior, which is demonstrated by the speakers of the language in the process of communication. The conditions are available for the emergence of new types of discourses where, along with the traditional, there appear new, unknown speech strategies used by the participants in the discourse for the achievement of various goals. The most important conclusion is that the new political and economic situation in the country has created a new language situation where, along with the traditional, there appear new, hitherto unfamiliar speech strategies used by participants in discourse in order to achieve various goals.
