Abstract
The purpose of this study was to clarify the role played by environmental governance in enhancing a nation's competitiveness by addressing the main issue : How can a country increase its competitiveness through the adoption of environmental governance standards ? In order to answer this question, we employed a descriptive methodology to define the concepts related to the study's variables and an analytical approachto ascertain the nature of the relationship between environmental governance and competitiveness. This wasachieved by analyzing data and information concerning the extent of environmental governance implementation by nations and its subsequent impact on their competitiveness. Our study produced a range of results, with the most significant ones being that environmental governance empowers countries to attain environmental justice and responsibility. Consequently, this fosters the attraction of foreign investment, stimulates domestic investment, promotes transparency, and combats administratifs and environmental corruption.
