Abstract

This study aims to identify the enabling factors influencing the success of university business incubators (UBIs) with respect to internal resources, and explore the priority of these factors, using evidence from Thailand. Research questions on whether the resource-related enabling factors are applicable to Thai UBIs and how varying the relative importance of these factors. Resource-based view (RBV) was used as a grounded theory to identify enabling factors comprising the four categories: human, technological, financial, and organizational resources. Then, fourteen enabling factors were prioritized by using the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (fuzzy AHP), based on Chang's extent analysis. The result leads to better strategic management and increased efficiency in the resource allocation decisions of UBIs for supporting start-up firms' development.
