Untuk itu pemerintah menetapkan aturan dalam Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia No.[55] Tahun 2007 Pasal 4 ayat 2 tentang Pendidikan Agama dan Keagamaan berbunyi “Setiap peserta didik pada satuan pendidikan di semua jalur, jenjang, dan jenis pendidikan berhak mendapat pendidikan agama sesuai agama yang dianutnya dan diajar oleh pendidik yang seagama” menjelaskan tentang persamaan hak dalam memperoleh pendidikan agama baik di tingkat dasar, menengah dan seterusnya.
