Abstract

SDIT Imam Bukhari Dompu is a religion-based public school that is expected to be able to produce generations of religious character. However, the teacher has not maximized in developing the religious character of students so that most students cannot develop their religious character perfectly. The aims of this research were: (1) To describe the strategies used by the teacher to develop students' religious character. (2) Describe the obstacles in developing students' religious character. Researchers used a qualitative approach using descriptive methods. The results of the research conducted by researchers are: (1) The strategy carried out by the teacher to develop students' religious character is to provide understanding through conveying the good values ​​of the material being taught, familiarizing students with things that are good and worth worshiping, and the teacher giving good example in worship and muamalah. (2) There are two factors that hinder the development of students' religious character, namely internal factors consisting of will and habits, and external factors consisting of lack of attention from both parents, social environment, and use of gadgets.
