Abstract
An ultra-high vacuum scanning tunnelling microscope system, capable of imaging individual atoms was officially handed over to Oxford University's department of metallurgy on 30 June by Caburn UHV on behalf of the manufacturers, Omicron GmbH. This is the first STM system of its type in Europe to be built and installed by a commercial manufacturer.
