Abstract
Stereospecific 1,2-rearrangement of epoxy silyl ethers in the presence of nucleophiles is described. The reaction affords 1,3-diols or corresponding mono-silylated ethers, which provides a route to establish three- or four-contiguous asymmetric centers in one step.
