Abstract
We perform systematic studies on reactions of selenium halides with acetylene [1] and its derivatives [2–4]. Efficient procedures for the synthesis of previously unknown five-membered heterocycles, 1,4-selenasilafulvenes, were developed on the basis of reactions of selenium dichloride and dibromide with diorganyl(diethynyl)silanes [2]. Reactions of selenium dihalides with trimethyl(propargyl)silane lead to the corresponding Markovnikov adducts [3], whereas antiMarkovnikov adducts are formed in reactions of selenium dihalides with propargyl halides and phenyl propargyl ethers [4].
