Abstract
The structure of the Au(110) surface was analysed by LEED and HRLEED experiments in the temperature range between 40 and 917 K. Monatomic steps in the [110] direction at T < T c, a roughening transition at T > T c, and enhanced thermal expans normal to the surface at T > T c were observed.
