Abstract

Statutory rights to be protected against unlawful discrimination on grounds of sex are given by the Sex Discrimination Acts 1975 and 1986. The Acts prevent direct discrimination, indirect discrimination and victimization. The Equal Pay Act 1970 implies an equality clause into an employment contract, that a woman employed on work similar to a man is entitled to have similar terms and conditions.
