Abstract

A total of 155 tower units, capable of generating up to 93 MW power, are under construction in four wind parks on Evoia, Greece. Construction began at the end of 1998 and the units are scheduled to enter service in July 2001. The parks are situated on the mountainous southern-eastern part of the island, about 450 m above sea level. Similar private wind parks or farms have been already created in other countries, such as the USA, Denmark and the Netherlands. For the current project, each unit consists of a wind turbine of type Bonus MKIV (with a capacity of 600 kW) supported by a tubular steel tower 35 m high.
