Abstract
The steady state performance of a standalone variable speed constant frequency generation system employing a double output induction machine and PWM converters is investigated. The system equations at steady state were derived in the stator flux oriented synchronously rotating reference frame. A computer program was developed to minimize the total kVA rating of the PWM converters within the thermal limits of the machine. The proposed scheme maintains a constant frequency and excellent voltage regulation against wide variation in load and prime mover speed.
