Abstract

The CRYRING project comprising the electron beam ion source CRYSIS, an RFQ linear accelerator and a combined synchrotron and storage ring, was funded in 1985. Around CRYSIS low-energy atomic and surface physics experiments are being developed and within the ring itself atomic physics experiments with merged and crossed external beams are being planned. The external beams will consist of photons, electrons and low charge state ions.
