Abstract

. A wide variety of indigenous and exotic fish including carps, catfish and innumerable smaller fishes are available. The contribution of the sector to GDP, foreign exchange earnings and employment is also significant. It accounts for 4.39 percent of GDP and 2.46 percent of export earnings of the country. Fish market is a place where people gather to buy or sell fishes. Fish marketing system can also be defined as the way through which fishes reach in consumers from producers. The consumers ultimately are to depend on an effective fish marketing system through which fishes will be available to them. High rate of population growth resulted in growing gap between supply and demand of fish and fisheries product of Bangladesh.
