Abstract

It is interesting to detect stator inter-turn fault, which can cause phase to ground or phase to phase short circuits in the stator. First, two major harmonics are found in the rotor current of doubly-fed Induction Generator with stator inter-turn fault through electromagnetic analysis. By building the model of doubly fed induction generator based on finite element analysis, the simulation result shows the magnitude of the harmonic component of the rotor current at frequency (2−s)f increases more significantly with the stator inter-turn fault. So it is more sensitive to detect the stator inter-turn fault. It is verified with experimental results.
