Abstract
Stator inter-turn short-circuit and Eccentricity faults are among the most common types of faults encountered in permanent magnet synchronous motors. This paper proposes a new method for the diagnosis of these types of faults based on the motor current signature analysis. A mathematical model based on the modified winding function approach has been developed to model the healthy PMSM, considering the effect of the magnetic saturation phenomenon and in the presence of inter-turns short-circuits and eccentricity faults. In order to highlight the interest of the model employed and the efficiency of the spectral analysis technique of the stator current, a series of simulations are performed in the different operation modes (Healthy and faulty operation modes).
