Abstract

Statistical regularities of the effect of slag basicity and the mass fraction of FeO in the slag in oxidizing and reducing media and in vacuum at 1500–1600°C on the slag corrosion of chamotte ladle refractories are investigated. It is shown that slag penetration and corrosion in the refractories depend mainly on the mass fraction of FeO in the slag, and the slag resistance decreases in the following order: oxidizing medium → reducing medium → vacuum.
