Statistical models for charge state distributions of heavy ions in carbon foils and gases

Abstract

Charge state distributions of ions having passed through carbon foils are fitted closely using the “chi-square model” (generally for E M ≲ 20 keV/amu) and the gaussian model (at higher energy). This new proposed chi-square model fits also very well the charge state distributions of heavy ions in gases.
