Abstract The known thermal decay processes found in clusters are reviewed and emission of atoms and dimers from clusters is compared with bulk vapour pressure data. The microcanonical cluster dimer evaporation rate constants are derived and shown to be higher than the monomer rate constants for identical activation energies.
