Abstract

Objective To assess the effect of statins on the prognosis of patients with acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS). Methods The literatures in Chinese and English on the efficacy of statins in the treatment of ALI/ARDS patients were obtained from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane library, Chinese Medical Current Content, Wanfang database, VIP database and CNKI database.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the qualified literatures were selected for quality evaluation.Meta-analysis was performed by Review Manager 5.3 software. Results There were nine studies including 2 842 cases (1 210 cases in experimental group, 1 632 cases in control group) met the inclusion criteria.Results of meta-analysis showed that there were no significant differences in the ventilation time, length of stay in hospital and intensive care unit, and mortality between statins group and control group. Conclusions Patients with ALI/ARDS treated with statins have no better clinical outcomes in mortality, ventilation time, length of stay in hospital and intensive care unit compared with control group.
