Abstract

Summary form only given. We performed an extended investigation of the magnetic and structural properties of Fe/sub 73.5/Si/sub 15.5/B/sub 7/Nb/sub 3/Cu/sub 1/ amorphous (AR) and nanocrystalline (NR) ribbons. The effect of the annealing temperatures T/sub a/ was explored on a set of NR prepared in the range of 490/spl deg/C/spl les/T/sub a//spl les/560/spl deg/C. Structural investigations confirmed that, whatever T/sub a/ the composition of the nanocrystallites is /spl alpha/-Fe/sub 80/Si/sub 20/. T/sub a/ affects the volume percentage, and the grain size distribution of the nanocrystallites, both parameters were determined precisely. The static magnetic properties were measured at T=2 K, for 300 K<T<800 K, and the approach to saturation was determined with a field up to 7 T. For a large number of results, when 300 K<T<400 K, whatever T/sub a/ the NR exhibited the same value of 4/spl pi/M/sub s/. The dynamic properties were investigated by angular ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) measurements, made at f=9.8 GHz, as a function of the angle /spl theta/ between H and the normal to the ribbon.
