Abstract
After the transition of the country's economy to market relations, the basis of the development of domestic agricultural production was the use of the entire potential of lands. The development level of domestic agriculture is entirely dependent on the rational land use. Each region of the country, including the Republic of Kalmykia has to use its own natural resource potential effectively. The article discusses the conditions and use of agricultural lands in the Republic of Kalmykia. The author underlines the changing area of agricultural lands, and pays the attention to the quality of the existing lands.
