Abstract

Arterial closure devices (ACDs) were introduced in the 1990s with the advantage that patients were able to ambulate almost immediately after the procedure.1 The overall procedure time can be reduced and also patient satisfaction and acceptance has been shown to be greater.1 The StarClose device (Abbott Vascular Devices, Redwood City, CA, USA) has been shown to be efficient with a high level of clinical and technical success.2 Antegrade and retrograde punctures have been successfully sealed with the StarClose vascular device.
