Abstract
As part of a research project funded by the SEG Foundation, your correspondents, two senior graduate students from Stanford University, coordinated and led a small-scale, applied geophysics field camp for 10 undergraduate geophysics students from our twinned SEG Student Section at the University of Bucharest. In the fall of 2006, we traveled to Romania to provide mentorship during the planning and acquisition stages of a number of near-surface geophysical surveys at a Romanian archaeological site. By the end of the field campaign, the students had acquired both hands-on training and multiple data sets that will greatly aid them in completing undergraduate theses. Overall, the field camp proved a successful approach to collaboration and exposed many students to their first practical geophysics training.
