Abstract

Advanced practice providers (APPs) are valuable members of health care teams integrated through orientation and onboarding. Comprehensive onboarding is crucial to retention and satisfaction in this group. A standardized onboarding program for new hire APPs was developed after a system-wide needs assessment showed poor satisfaction. Participants were surveyed upon completion of the program and compared with a preintervention cohort. An 80% increase in positive responses was noted in the intervention cohort when asked whether they intend to stay in their role for at least 1 year. Participants also identified recommendations for content in future programs.
