Abstract

The standard Gibbs energies of formation of M2TeO6 (where M: Eu, Dy, Yb) were obtained from vapour pressure measurements. The vapour pressures of TeO2 (g) were measured by employing thermogravimetry-based transpiration technique. The temperature dependence of the vapour pressure of TeO2 (g) over the mixtures M2TeO6 (s) + M2O3 (s), generated by the incongruent vapourisation reaction, M2TeO6 (s) → M2O3 (s) + TeO2 (g) + ½ O2 (g) was measured in the temperature range 1,368–1,483 K (M: Eu), 1,313–1,473 K (M: Dy), and 1,283–1,413 K (M: Yb) to obtain the Gibbs energies of formation of Eu2TeO6 (s), Dy2TeO6 (s), and Yb2TeO6 (s), respectively.
