Abstract

In a very practical manner, this chapter lays out how countries can establish the fundamentals of employment services in developing countries, getting the core functions of job search assistance, counseling and placement working right. It provides examples of countries that have started from zero to advance such services as well as other countries that have re-established better functioning core employment services that had languished through distinct strategies, including private sector strategies and institutional restructuring.
