Abstract

The objective of the present study is to discuss the means of realistic prediction of thermally induced pressure primarily in tall buildings under no action of wind and artificial ventilation. The study has been carried out, both experimentally and analytically, using a simulated model building with five floors and a number of exterior openings. The results show that for the prediction of thermal effect in high-rise buildings with floor partitions, a nondimensional parameter representing the ratio of floor opening to exterior opening areas has a dominant role.
