Abstract

This brief studies the stabilization of load frequency control (LFC) system. The event-triggered intermittent control (ETIC) is designed for the multi-area LFC system. The stabilization of the LFC system is achieved under the designed ETIC. Moreover, the scheme of ETIC is improved via state-based control width (SCW) and an ETIC-SCW is proposed. Two performance indices: the rate of control and the cost of control, are defined for comparisons. Specific cases are studied to verify the effectiveness of the proposed ETIC schemes. From the numerical simulations, it is shown that the designed ETIC, especially ETIC-SCW, achieves clearly lower rate of control and cost of control than the time-based intermittent control and the event-triggered control for LFC system in the literature.
