Abstract

Abstract : Sufficient conditions for the input-output stability of multiple-loop systems, in the frequency domain and in the time domain, are established. Both gain results and sector results are presented. In all cases the objective is the same; to analyze complex systems in terms at their subsystems and in terms of their interconnecting structure. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the method advanced, three specific examples are considered. These include: (1) An interconnection of three linear time-invariant elements with a linear time-varying element, a piecewise linear element, and a hysteresis nonlinearity; A network formed from the interconnection of two passive elements with a nonlinear time-varying resistance and a nonlinear time-varying conductance; A third-order nonlinear time-varying differential equation involving time delay.
