Abstract

Abstract We consider the problem of the disappearance of antiferromagnetism upon doping in the CuO 2 planes of high Tc superconductors. Using a Gutzwiller approach appropriate to antiferromagnetism in that plane, we obtain the range of doping which permits antiferromagnetism. This range is larger than in previous calculation using a simple Hubbard model. We predict strong antiferromagnetic correlations in the superconducting phase.
