Abstract

The noninfectious 91 S nucleoprotein component of bean pod mottle virus is less stable in alkaline-chloroform emulsions than the infectious 112 S component. Particle survival may be related to time of synthesis. Electrophoretic heterogeneity and the normal component distribution were maintained from pH 4.0 to 9.0. RNA cores of the noninfectious component displayed areas of nonuniform staining.
